I like fonts. In fact, I collect them; I’ve lost track of how many I’ve downloaded over the years.

Anyway, it’s definitely easy enough (and often necessary) to buy fonts online. However, there are also plenty of sources of public domain (i.e. free!) fonts on the internet.

Font Squirrel has a veritable treasure trove of commercial-license and public domain fonts. Most are downloadable from FontSquirrel’s website, but a few are off-site downloads.

Google Fonts has hundreds of free fonts which can either be downloaded to your hard drive, or you can link to them from any website that enables font linkage (not all do).

Blambot specializes in comic fonts. Some are free downloads, some are paid. Browse this site, and you might find you have less of a use for the much-maligned Comic Sans.

Font Diner specializes in retro-looking typefaces, some of which I hope to review here soon.  As with BlamBot, some of their fonts are free and some aren’t.
